Review: They’re Real! Push-Up Liner (Benefit)

When it comes to enhancing my eyes, my go-to product has always been a pencil eyeliner because it’s the easiest one to use. In case you’re wondering, I almost always go with a black eyeliner because it seriously makes my sort of big eyes look even bigger and way better. This is why I was so thrilled when I found out that one of the products included in the exclusive Benefit – November BDJ box is an eyeliner called “They’re Real! Push-Up Liner”.

What makes this product so interesting is that it is a pen-type gel liner that uses a soft AccuFlex tip. With this, the application process becomes easier even for beginners. This waterproof gel eyeliner can also last for up to 24 hours on the lids. Nice!

According to a consumer panel survey they conducted among 32 women:

– 91% said it was long-wearing

– 86% said it hugged the lash line

– 84% said eyes looked visibly larger

Now, I have decided to write a review about this product because this is something I have never tried before and I want to show readers how easy OR hard it is to use this eyeliner.

When using the product for the first time, you will have to remove that tiny orange object on top to be able to get the gel out.

To be able to get the gel out, you will have to gently squeeze the base of the tip until you see the gel liner coming out.

I like that it doesn’t take much force to get the gel out and I like that I’m able to control how much gel I want to come out. If you think there is already enough gel then you can stop squeezing. If after applying, you feel that you need a little more then you can squeeze it again.

This is my first time to use this type of product and as you can see in the pictures above, it did not come out as good as I want it to be. You can clearly see that I failed to create a smooth line towards the end of my upper lash line. The problem I had with the sample is that it was too small – there weren’t much to hold on to – and so it was a bit difficult to use. If I had been given a full size sample of this one, the application would have been smoother. Hehe! On the bright side, I did like how I was able to apply it so closely to my lash line without irritation and I like that it hugged my lash line so effortlessly.

The thing that I am most happy about is the fact that it successfully made my eyes pop. If you compare the before and after photos above, you’ll notice how my eyes looked bigger after applying the gel eyeliner. Also, based on experience, the gel eyeliner did last on my lids for 9 hours (2PM – 11PM). I know that they claim it can last for up to 24 hours but I can’t possibly wait for 24 hours just to check its effectiveness since I do have to sleep at some point and we all know it is not okay to leave our makeup on during sleep.

Tomorrow (or should I say later today since it’s already 5:02AM), I will use it again and I hope I’ll get better at it. ^_^
