Hyatt Hotel – City of Dreams Manila

City of Dreams Manila has just opened its doors less than 2 months ago but it has already caught the attention of a whole lot of people. City of Dreams Manila is not just about playing in the casino. They also have shops, Dream Play (scheduled to be open on March 14, 2015) and 3 hotels surrounding the casino – Crown, Hyatt and Nobu – to fulfill your relaxation need.

I was fortunate enough to be able to stay at Hyatt hotel without paying some money. My brother actually took care of it. Yes!!!

When you enter Hyatt hotel, you’ll immediately see the entrance to the Casino as it is located across the hotel’s main door. This allows hotel guests to access the casino easily. If you have a car, I suggest that you take advantage of their valet service instead of parking the car yourself. COD’s parking area is in another building and so if you park there, you would still have to cross the street to get to the casino. And you don’t have to worry because if you are a hotel guest, you won’t have to pay anything for the valet service except maybe tipping the driver but that’s your choice.

Hyatt’s lobby area is very spacious. The furniture, displays and lighting that they used looked really nice. Also, each hotel at City of Dreams Manila has 2 towers, all of which are covered with gold-plated-like windows thus giving the entire property a wonderful touch of elegance.

Now, here’s the thing… when we arrived at the hotel (around 2pm), we were told that the check-in time in all 3 hotels has been changed from 2PM to 3PM and so we had to wait for an hour. Waiting till 3PM was okay since we were able to leave our luggage at the concierge while we check the hotel’s facilities. However, when we got back to the lobby, the receptionist told us that our room is still not available because the guests staying in the same room had a late checkout and so we will have to wait until 4PM. Their excuse was that they are fully booked for the entire weekend but that doesn’t make sense at all. If they are fully booked, they shouldn’t have allowed their guests to have a late checkout otherwise, it will just create a domino effect. We told them that if they would check us in at 4PM then we will demand for a much later checkout the following day. They tried to work it out and finally, we were able to get into our room around 3:30PM.

The room is not that big. I think it’s around 36 sqm. only but it has almost everything that we needed. Check out their amenities:

  • Robes
  • Walk-in shower
  • Hairdryer
  • Iron/ironing board
  • 24-hour room service
  • Minibar
  • Coffee maker
  • 40″ or larger TV
  • Cable/satellite TV channels
  • Video on demand
  • Hyatt Stereo iPod docking station
  • iPod docking station also functions as alarm clock
  • Three or more telephones
  • Speakerphone
  • Voicemail
  • High-speed Internet access
  • Dataport
  • Individual air conditioning control
  • 24-hour concierge
  • In-room safe
  • Safe large enough for small laptop computer
  • Morning newspaper
  • Rollaways upon request
  • Crib upon request
  • Mineral water upon request
  • Yoga mat upon request
  • Maximum guests per room: 2

I even saw a flashlight and a sewing kit in one of the drawers and a complimentary shoe shine kit inside the cabinet. I like that even though the room isn’t that huge, there are still plenty of spaces to store my belongings. Plus, when you first enter the room, you’ll see a welcome message on the TV screen with your surname on it and when you call the guest services hotline, you’ll be greeted with “Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening, Mr./Ms./Mrs. ________”. It just felt very personal.

Their bathroom looks really nice. Weirdly so, you’ll find your complimentary bottled water inside the bathroom instead of being placed on the round table inside the room. Their complimentary toiletries looked so luxurious. You’ll get your usual shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, hand soap, body soap, shower cap, cotton buds, shaving kit, toothbrush with toothpaste and some tissues. Apart from those, you’ll also get a free comb and an emery board. I just love all of it.

Hyatt offers its guests free use of the swimming pool and the gym. They also have a salon but that is, of course, not free. I don’t know the services offered in the salon so you might want to call the hotel in case you are interested.

I think that the size of the pool area in all 3 hotels is the same. You’ll probably just find a slight difference in the number of lounge chairs and its layout. The pool can be used only until 8PM. I went for a quick swim around 7PM already and I just love how the place looks at night. The reflection coming from the hotel windows looked striking in the evening and COD’s centerpiece “egg” looked great with all its changing colors.

I failed to take pictures of the locker area but you should be happy to know that they provide the same toiletries you’ll find in your room which means you won’t have to go shower in your room after swimming or after working out. Another thing I found useful in the locker room is the “Suitmate” machine that they have. At first, I didn’t pay attention to it because I thought it was a waste bin or something but when I took a closer look, I found out that the machine is used to dry your swimwear. All you have to do is put one wet item at a time and hold the cover down until the vibrating stops. Depending on the type of swimwear, you might have to do the procedure more than once to make it completely dry. This blew me away!

The gym inside Hyatt hotel operates for 24 hours so you can exercise any time you want.

The following day, we were able to request for a late checkout and I was very happy that they allowed us to stay in the room until 2PM. I didn’t get to sleep well during the night since I had online classes with my students very early in the morning so it was good to be able to take a nap until 1PM that day. And although the check-in process didn’t turn out great, everything else after that went smoothly. I am glad that I got to stay there and I look forward to staying there again next time.

Did you know?

If you play a lot in the casino and your bet is high, you might even end up getting a free overnight stay in this hotel or in the other 2 hotels in City of Dreams Manila. They have a system that can check everybody’s gaming activities and so if the system tells them you are qualified, you might be able to stay in their hotel without paying a dime. 🙂

  1. The new Hyatt looks really nice. All these amenities do really look luxurious! Anyway, the check-in situation must have been really weird. A fully booked hotel just shoulnd’t offer a late check-out to its guests…
