Lovely Dinner at Happy Garden Cafe

Every year, I make it a point to see my closest high school friends (at least once) so that we can update each other about our lives. It’s always difficult to find time to meet but when it’s Christmas, we always make it happen. No excuses. 🙂

My friends and I decided to have dinner at Happy Garden Cafe last Friday (December 16) and I have to say that I’m very thankful that even though it was a Friday and even though the location was in Makati, we didn’t really experience getting stuck in traffic. Thank you, Waze.

I am just so in love with the interiors of Happy Garden Cafe. In my eyes, it looked completely magical. I love that you can find flowers all over the place. They even have some flower pot cupcakes which are just the cutest. I initially wanted to take home a flower pot cupcake but whenever I’m full, I usually don’t like to buy anything that is food-related. Lol!

I like that they have a really huge space and that the tables are not too close to one another so when you dine there, you can be sure that it wouldn’t feel cramped at all. It’s also a safe haven for kids because they can roam around freely. Of course, you would still have to keep a watchful eye on them because there are so much interesting stuffs in the restaurant that would definitely catch their attention. In fact, my friend’s daughter had so much fun in the restaurant that she probably grabbed more than 10 different items that she found on display. Haha!

Their restaurant looks so good that some people would actually book the entire place for their special events. I honestly think that this place is perfect for celebrations like weddings because you no longer have to worry about flowers since they already have it everywhere. That is like one less thing to worry about, right? 🙂

There was also an area in the restaurant where you’ll find some colorful ribbons and wrappers on display. My guess is that apart from the food that they serve, they also sell fresh flowers to their customers and this is the area in the restaurant where they prepare the flower bouquets.

I was happy when the waiter gave us some complimentary popcorn because I didn’t know that they have this in the restaurant. It was great that we got to eat something while we were waiting for the others to arrive.

Thriving (Php125) – Pumpkin Soup with Cocoa Cream and Blue Cheese Croutons

I’m not so sure how the pumpkin soup tasted because our friend ordered this specifically for her adorable daughter. I’m pretty sure she enjoyed it because I didn’t see any leftovers. Hehe!

Pure (Php385) – Harvest Salad with Pumpkin Goddess, Mixed Greens, Roasted Pumpkin and Brussel Sprouts, Cranberries, Pecans, Apple Slices served with Pumpkin-Yogurt Dressing

I skipped the salad because I don’t like eating vegetables so I can’t really say if this tasted good or not.

Connected (Php335) – Fresh Mozzarella Cheese baked on Pomodoro and drizzled with Olive Oil

The “Connected” dish was ok. It wasn’t bad but it just didn’t scream amazing. The mozzarella cheese was good though.

Adventurous (Php595) – Prawn Cake served with Soft Shell Crab Tempura

The funny thing about the “Adventurous” dish is that when I tried the Soft Shell Crab Tempura, I actually thought that it was a Prawn Tempura since it tasted like one. I did enjoy the Prawn Cake because it was flavorful and it wasn’t that oily.

Enthusiastic (Php325) – Mushroom Stuffed Pasta cooked in Alfredo Sauce

This mushroom stuffed pasta was surprisingly delicious and that says a lot considering I don’t really like eating mushrooms. I normally avoid eating mushrooms because I find its texture on the slimy side but I didn’t have that kind of experience eating this dish. I think it’s now safe enough to say that if I ever need to eat mushroom, this “Enthusiastic” dish would be my first choice.

Complete (Php345) – Freshly made Brown Rice Pasta with Lamb Bolognese Sauce

This pasta was also good although I actually liked the Mushroom Stuffed Pasta more.

Transformed – Chorizo and Egg (Php695) – Pureed Tomatoes, topped with Spanish Chorizo, Organic Egg, Oregano, Basil and Mozzarella Cheese

Love this pizza. I think that most of us found this to be the best one from all the dishes that we ordered. The crust was slightly thin and really crunchy. Plus, I don’t think you can go wrong with Chorizo, Organic Egg and lots of Mozzarella Cheese. It was yummy!

Fabulous (Php565) – Smoked Beef Brisket with Kahlua Barbecue Sauce, Mashed Potatoes and Steamed Vegetables

This beef brisket was very tender. The barbecue sauce complimented it really well. I wished I had ordered rice on the side because when a meat is good, I always want to pair it with rice. Haha!

Red Velvet Cake

Carrot Cake

Before ordering, the waiter already informed us that their cakes are not moist since it’s gluten-free and dairy-free. I didn’t really mind that it wasn’t moist because the cakes were really yummy. I like that both had just the right amount of sweetness and if I wasn’t so full, I would have actually ordered some for take-out. One thing for sure though is that if I am ever craving for some Red Velvet or Carrot Cake, I’d definitely order those from Happy Garden Cafe. 🙂

Mango Shake (Php125)

There was nothing extraordinary about this drink but it was, no doubt, delicious and not overly sweet. If you order this, it won’t disappoint.

I’m so glad that my friend found this restaurant because I just love everything about it. The place was gorgeously designed, the dishes were healthy yet delicious, and the prices were reasonable enough too. There were 6 of us that night and we only had to pay about Php800 each. Even though we had to split all the foods into 6 parts and even though there were no rice at all, we still felt full after munching over all that food.

Happy Garden Cafe is definitely one of those restaurants that I would surely love to visit again. There is just something about that place that makes hanging out with friends even more relaxing and more memorable.
