Review: Belo Sunexpert Body Shield SPF60

I have tried a lot of beauty products on my skin already and not once did I have an allergic reaction. For this reason, I never seem to bother to do a patch test… as in never. That is my fault.

Last month, I received a special edition beauty box from Glamourbox. It had several Belo products that I have never tried before. I was particularly excited with the sunblock lotion that they provided since it’s the perfect product to use for this summer.

Belo Sunexpert Body Shield SPF60

“This moisturizing sunscreen effectively provides broad spectrum protection against harmful UV rays. It has Cell Protect formula that strengthens the skin’s defense system while preventing accelerated premature skin aging.”

I first tried this product two weeks ago and somehow, a day after application, I noticed 3 small dots on my left arm. It was quite itchy but I thought it was due to mosquito bite so I didn’t mind. The following day, I noticed more spots on both arms and some on my legs and since I have never had any allergic reactions to anything – except on some lipsticks – I thought that it was nothing serious. Unfortunately, it kept getting itchier and itchier by the minute and it was so damn hard to control myself from scratching so I decided to go see a doctor.

The doctor asked me if I used anything new and I said I used Belo’s sunblock lotion. He told me to get a CBC test and when the results came, he said I am not allergic to anything. He said I’m safe to eat any food I want and apply any beauty products I want. I was told that what I had was just a viral disease. It sounded more serious than an allergy but it’s actually not. The doctor prescribed Loratadine to be taken once a day (before bedtime) for 7 days. I did exactly that and soon enough, the itching stopped and the spots disappeared.

Then I figured… the doctor said it was just a viral disease and not an allergy so last Saturday, I decided to use the same sunblock lotion from Belo and can you guess what happened next?? I started getting some spots again and in a weird way, I still thought that maybe it was due to mosquito bite because I swear I did see 1-2 mosquitoes in my room. Lol!

When I woke up this morning, my skin got itchier and I saw a lot more spots than yesterday. I called the clinic where I had my check-up and the doctor advised me to just stop using the lotion. Aaarrrggghhh!!! I’m a little bit pissed. Had he told me that it was because of the lotion, I would have never used it again. Now, I have to suffer for a few more days… all because I was told that it was JUST a viral disease and NOT an allergy.

As of 11:50PM today (March 17, 2014), this is how my arms look like:

***This product, unfortunately, did not work for me but it doesn’t mean that it will not work for you. In fact, my brother and sister used it too but they didn’t get any allergic reactions at all.
